A private, non-profit, and non-sectarian institute of higher education, New York Institute of Technology was founded in 1955 with a mission to provide career-oriented professional education, to give all qualified students access to opportunity, and to support research and scholarship that benefit the larger world.

Its 90+ career-oriented degree programs include computer science, engineering, architecture, digital art and design, business and finance, life sciences, health care, and medicine. Its “maker, doer” culture actively engages students in their education, and each program’s curricula and expert faculty empower them to reinvent the future by teaching them to solve 21st -century challenges with new and emerging technologies, hands-on and co-curricular experiences, and critically creative thinking.

The Chronicle of Education ranks New York Tech seventh among all U.S. universities for enhancing social mobility, raising students up from the lowest 20% of the economic strata to the top 20%. U.S. News & World Report also lists New York Tech among the top colleges for social mobility in its 2020 rankings.
